Just to let everyone know, this is show week and therefore I will not be updating my blog as much.
w00t but you canalways come see me in Drood.
March 2-4 at 7:30 PM and 2:00 PM (Saturday matinee, March 4) at Niskayuna high School Auditorium.
$12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors ($10 and $8 for the matinee)
^_^ I hope that you guys can go. Never heard of the show? Here's a synopsis courtesy of Betty buckley's webage. (She was the original Edwin Drood/Alice Nutting):
"ACT I
The setting is London's Music Hall Royale, where, we find, the acting troupe is about to embark on the premiere performance of "The Mystery of Edwin Drood." We, the audience, get to play the part of THEIR audience, as well as contribute to the outcome of the evening's performance by our voting for certain options that were not addressed in the Dickens play, due to the author's untimely demise. Cast members come out to us in our seats and briefly explain the role we are about to play.
From their places throughout the theater, the cast members launch into the opening number, "THERE YOU ARE," welcoming the audience to their show. From our Master of Ceremonies, the Chairman, we quickly learn that this is going to be an evening of unusual theater, with the conventional boundaries between audience and performers being subdued if not erased. The Chairman invites us to be as "vulgar and uncivilized as legally possible" in order for us to really have a good time, but to pay attention, as clues to the mystery's solution appear at every turn!
Enter Edwin Drood, nephew of Jasper. We learn that the moustachioed young man is actually being played by Miss Alice Nutting, male impersonator extraordinaire. With Jasper, he discusses his impending marriage to Rosa Bud, his misgivings about the arranged pairing, and their plans for subsequent departure for Egypt. As they share their confidences in song, we learn that Jasper and Drood are more than "TWO KINSMEN," they are friends.
In the "Nun's House," the town's seminary for young ladies,we are introduced to the fair Miss Rosa Bud. She is joined by her music tutor, our Jasper, who presents her with a song he has composed for her birthday. At Jasper's insistance, Rosa sings the love ballad "MOONFALL." As she nervously embarks on an encore, the Landless twins enter, brother and sister orphans from Ceylon, with the Reverand Crisparkle, in whose care the young man has been entrusted. Rosa faints from the words of lusty Jasper's song, and fiery spirit Helena Landless tends to her. Her hot-tempered brother Neville reveals his attraction to Rosa. Rosa and Helena share girl talk, and then the reprise of "MOONFALL QUARTET."
We next meet Princess Puffer, proprietress of this London opium den, and hear her views on the wicked ways of the world in "THE WAGES OF SIN." Much to our surprise, we discover our choirmaster Jasper taking smoke in one of the beds, struggling with his conscience as he dreams of Drood...and Rosa Bud. Speaking the latter's name aloud he visibly strikes a chord in Puffer.
The next day in Cloisterham, Rev. Crisparkle introduces the twins to Drood, who explains his grand scheme to pave a desert highway with stones from the pyramids. He offends Neville with his ignorance and sparks an instant rivalry. The twins attempt to bring Drood around in song with "CEYLON," and Drood responds in defense, joining them in the musical arguement.
Jasper enters with Mayor Sapsea, and, taking advantage of the public confrontation, plants a seed of concern in the Mayor's head. Jasper points out to him that everything is not always what it seems to be as they sing "BOTH SIDES OF THE COIN."
In the depths of the crypts we discover Jasper sneaking around in a crazed state, with both Deputy and Durdles becoming victims in his mad game. In the confusion, he obtains a key to one of the chambers...
In town it is Christmas Eve, and Drood and Rosa share their true feelings for one another in "PERFECT STRANGERS." They call off their wedding plans and vow to be friends forever, but in light of the holiday, decide to keep up the charade a bit longer.
Thunderbolts and rumbling welcome us back to the home of Jasper to celebrate Christmas Eve dinner with our friends. All the character's rivalries surface, and the guests join in the battle of the tongue, revealing motive and meaning as they sing the ominously foreshadowing "NO GOOD CAN COME FROM BAD."
The song and dinner end, and Drood and Neville are drunk, heading out to the see the storm-ravaged river. The others retire for the evening as well, and Jasper offers his topcoat to his nephew to wear out into the blustery night.
Christmas Day finds us without a sign of Drood. The Rev. Crisparkle's assistant Bazzard, a hopeless playwright, finds Jasper's borrowed coat, torn and bloodied. Drood is assumed murdered and the search begins for suspect Neville. Bazzard treats us to a song entitled "NEVER THE LUCK," lamenting his lot in life, but expressing hope.
Neville is captured, then released for lack of evidence: there is still no sign of Drood, dead or alive. Jasper professes his feelings to Rosa, who angrily disagrees with his terminology in "THE NAME OF LOVE." Their passion flares as they continue with "MOONFALL," and emotions rage wildly.
Act II
Act II opens in Cloisterham six months later. Drood has not been found, and we meet up with two interested parties, Princess Puffer, our dope queen, and a suspicious-looking, bearded old stranger named Datchery. They are in town to solve the mystery of Edwin Drood, and they sing of their intent in "SETTLING UP THE SCORE."
The Chairman, Deputy and Durdles have a brief interchange with the newcomers, and remind the audience to think carefully when considering the clues in "OFF TO THE RACES."
In her search for Jasper, Puffer meets up with Rosa and recognizes her. Puffer sings about not giving up one's pursuits in "DON'T QUIT WHILE YOU'RE AHEAD," joined by the whole cast. They all stop suddenly in the second round, and it is revealed that this is as far as Dickens got in his play before dying.
We are then faced with the task of writing the ending on our own.
The first choice to be made is whether Edwin is actually dead or not. We are shown that Alice Nutting, our Drood, in order to fulfill her contract to appear in two acts of the play, has been wearing the disguise of Datchery. But Drood is unanimously voted dead by the cast, and Alice is sent on her way.
But before we begin to address the question of Datchery's identity, Alice tells the cast members off, citing their jealousy as reason for her dismissal. Upon her exit, the Chairman fills us in: Alice was a pill! He continues, giving us our choices for the role of Datchery, as cast members remind us of their culpability. Those who have appeared in scenes with Datchery are ruled out as suspects. We vote for our masked man....or woman, Datchery is chosen by audience applause, and is then invited to make a costume change for the conclusion.
And now, Alice Nutting storms across the stage to make her grand exit, her little dog trailing behind her.
Onto more serious matters: we seek the culprit. Who shall be the murderer tonight? The Chairman runs down the list of possible murderers and their motives for the crime. Audience members vote by "districts" for the killer, and the totals are tallied backstage. The reprise of "SETTLING UP THE SCORE" brings us to the conclusion of The Mystery....of Edwin Drooooood!
Puffer runs into Rosa in the cathedral, calling her by name. In happier times, it seems, Puffer was Rosa's nanny, and explains the situation in "THE GARDEN PATH TO HELL." She continues with "PUFFER'S CONFESSION" and reveals to us the identity of Datchery!
A version of "OUT ON A LIMERICK" follows, sung by the evening's chosen Datchery, either Bazzard, Reverend Crisparkle, Helena, Neville or Rosa, telling their reason to want to find the killer, and accusing Jasper of doing the deed!
Jasper is brought forth and in "JASPER"S CONFESSION" admits to strangling his nephew while in a drugged state. But gravedigger Durdles has news for him. He witnessed the crime and knows the true identity of the killer! It is one of either Bazzard, Reverend Crisparkle, Helena, Neville, Puffer or Rosa. The murderer confesses, then sings his crime in a reprise of one of the show's numbers.
The Chairman then lets us choose a pair of lovers from the cast members still available for such! The two recite lines appropriate to their cause, and then reprise "PERFECT STRANGERS."
We are then alerted to a rumbling from the crypt below. It is Drood! Still alive and ready to tell us not only the truth of that fateful night, but his insights into the wonders of life from his new perspective, as he sings of "THE WRITING ON THE WALL."
Drood is alive and the mystery is solved! The Company takes bow to the reprise of "DON'T QUIT WHILE YOU'RE AHEAD." "

Oh yes. I think I have two finalists for prom dresses. I am quite excited. Mom and I went up to Danielle'sin Saratoga and had a lovely experience with thm. They're very nice to do business with and I highly recommend the forty-five minute trip to give them a try. Ooh speaking of the trip up I had a funny experience. I was in a McDonald's rest stop on the way to a prom gown shop that was on the northway when I was thinking about whether I should major in music, and I looked atmy cup and it had a picture of a saxophonist playing saying "music is my life and love". That right there, my friend, is a sign. Funny, eh?
So basically my day consisted of reading, eating dinner, chilling with the family, and shopping for prom dresses. w00t.
Oh and funny conversations ith Steve, a lover of Polish death metal and nutella, french horn player, and beloved AMA person:
blueabyss17 (10:48:24 PM): well what if I act like a courtisan? lol I won't
sushislayer101 (10:48:32 PM): good
sushislayer101 (10:48:38 PM): its good stuff, haha
blueabyss17 (10:49:19 PM): it is a little outdated and acting like a prostitute is well, not that grand either.
blueabyss17 (10:49:31 PM): So I guess I'll act like Anna Nicole Smith lol ha ha
sushislayer101 (10:49:50 PM): you'll just have to act like your IQ is lower than 20
blueabyss17 (10:50:02 PM): ow that must sting her
sushislayer101 (10:50:18 PM): she wouldn't know what hit here, she's stupid
blueabyss17 (10:50:54 PM): lol or at least she acts like it. I'm not sure what's worse.
sushislayer101 (10:51:19 PM): i know whats worse... the fact that she's the spokeswoman for a diet pill
blueabyss17 (10:51:28 PM): ooo
sushislayer101 (10:51:53 PM): she's absolutely disgusting
blueabyss17 (10:54:24 PM): hmm
blueabyss17 (10:54:42 PM): yes not my idea of beauty but whoever read playboy in the 90s like her
sushislayer101 (10:55:29 PM): i'm a guy and she makes me limp
blueabyss17 (10:55:35 PM): oof
sushislayer101 (10:55:47 PM): yeah, thats bad
blueabyss17 (10:55:54 PM): If I was bi, I do not think I would be turned on either
blueabyss17 (10:56:02 PM): or a lesbian too
sushislayer101 (10:56:12 PM): good girl
blueabyss17 (10:56:27 PM): speaking of lesbians, riddle me this,
sushislayer101 (10:56:44 PM): ok
blueabyss17 (10:56:50 PM): why are so many guys fascinated with girl-on-girl action?
blueabyss17 (10:57:24 PM): I mean they're not obsessed with the way heteros or gay guys do it...
sushislayer101 (10:57:56 PM): i don't know actually... maybe just because theres an extra set of tits
blueabyss17 (10:59:12 PM): o a vagina?
blueabyss17 (10:59:20 PM): wow, we're so weird. lol
sushislayer101 (10:59:31 PM): yes, true... 2x the fun

To me I find that kind of scary. Sometimes I worry tht I may not find a school for me, even though there are thousands of schools in the U.S. alone. I have to get moving on my college search. I received mail/email from a bunch of schools such as Fordham, Hartwick, Hartford, Saint Rose, Hofstra, Lynchberg, and Univerity of Evansville. Wow. I'm also excited because I've been told that college is way better than high school;no silly drama, cooler classes, and a lot more freedom. Hopefully, thses things are true. Of course, I'm enjoying high school. Why not? Things have been going relatively well; stress or no stress. I'm not sure what I want my major will be. It'll most likely be a major in the humanities, perhaps with a double major or minor with music. The music factor puzzles me. I'm not sure if I should major in music with everybody and their brother. There's tons of things I could do with music besides performance and education, such as technical stuff, music therapy, and business. The one thing I'm certain is that somehow, music will be part of my college education. <3
w00t. WE OPEN IN ONE WEEK!!!!! Drood is going to be amazingly fabulous. I'm excited but I'm worried that I may not be able to get al of my work done. WE finished painting yesterday prety much. Mom is a marble painting fiend. haha. Like I said, Drood will be a wonderful experience and things are bound to play out well.
Tickets are still availible but they're going FAST! (it's reserved seating, by the way.)
Remember:
The Mystery of Edwin Drood the musical March 2-4 at 7:30 PM and 2:00 PM ( Saturday matinee) Niskayuna High School Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students/seniors ($10 and $8 for the Saturday matinee)

Anyway, I should get back to my homework. Ciao!

PHANTOM WAS SPECTACULAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^_^ ZOMG, it is one of the best productions ˆ have ever seen. I wish I could talk to these people and ask them about life on the road. Perhaps someday I will go on the road and perform. I enjoyed the AMA experience. I think I have another career consideration...<33333333 Oh my, that show gives these romantic chills that I seldom get. That's how special it was.
w00t. Drood is really starting to look like a show. Areal show. It's so amazing. Absolutely thrilling.Mom and I painted the set on Sunday and yesterday. We did the marbeling on the mausoleum. Mom is a genius when it comes to paint techniques. I had to climb a six-foot ladder and paint the top part of the backdrop. It was frightening but a lot of fun sitll. Us, hughes, Peter the lighing guy, Chris Nelson, and Mrs. Sausa-Gatta (Richard's mom, he's in an Asian tour of Grease and is recent NHS graduate) were there until almost 11 o'clock at night.
Perhaps I should be getting to bed considering I had a lot of trouble getting up form being out late last night.

Aw, my Valentine's day was delightful! Kevin stopped by and we chatted for a while, going back and forth about where we want to go out to dinner. He got me the most beautiful rose that I've ever seen and lots of chocolate. ^_^ So 'm pretty damn happy. He apologized a thousand times to me. (I forgive him. He's still a sweet guy.) We went to Ruby Tuesday's along with everybody and their brother, lol, and then to Coldstone for desert. w00t. It was a lovely evening. I really do enjoying being with him. <3333

So woo. I'm being pushed beyond my limits in rehearsals. I don't mind but I'm just so tired and barely have enough time to get anything done. I hope that I'm strong enough to still give my all.

SUBURBAN COUNCIL RULED!!!!! We sounded better than the Area-All State. Coolness. Janower thinks I'm "a star", weird he said that in front of everyone. w/e It was nice. I <3 Guilderland people. The concert sounded great according to all of the audience.
Snowball....ugh, yeah...talk to me about that later when I sort everything out. (hint: his ass is grass) Well, I guess I had a little cry session at home and then went to Snowball and said to myself, "hey, I look gorgeous. YAY, let's dance". Good for me. I sort of felt like a third wheel in front of Kelsey and James; akward. Yeah.
So I'm in like a dead mood. I have to get up tomorrow and then do my piles of homework. Then I have to go to conformation class. :-p woo.......I cannot wait for vacation.

Mmmm...chocolate. ^________^ Anyway, lots and lots going on. Academia is as usual crazy but I am surviving. Report card went down a little but I shall try to keep it up better for thrid quarter, even though I have absolutely no time to breathe because of the musical, concerts, festivals, etc. Orchestra is fun; being in the front has definitely pushed me to become a better player. Photos of Concert Chorale today went well. The Requiem fugue in the first movement was too slow. Yes, I know that we are practicing but :-p it's just boring for me becauseI know my part and so does Andrea frontwards and backwards. I'm worried if we are going to be ready. First Drood rehearsal with the orchestra today. It was sort of tedious because we were collaborating on tempos and cut-offs. Quite fun. Neubert is happy with the way we sound so hopefully we;ll keep it up and be ten times better than that. w00t. Suburban Council tomorrow at Columbia and I get to see Seth. ZOMG! Exciting. The music is mad easy; I already did two of the pieces in oncert Chorale and American Music Abroad. Woohoo. So tomrrow should be a good day. Kevin is going to Snowball wiht me, 99.9% sure he is. ^_____^ YAY, I get to see my hairy devil. lol mdr! ( ha ha only LAura D and I are cool enough to abreaviate "dying of laughter" in French like lol in English) Haha. Speaking of Laura D, I get to see her and other cool AMA people on the 18th!!!! I'M SO DAMNED EXCITED YOU HAVE NO IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol mdr! :-D
Aah, the feeling of getting all my homework done before ten is quite refreshing. Reminds me of the days of middle school; even though I still had a lot of homework then but then compares to the amount of work I get now. w/e I'm cool. ha ha.
I think I shalol go to bed early. Yes, sleep wil be amazing and I'll be revitalized and ready for first block English. Well, not THAT revitalized. Grammar+Thoreau+her=blechlblahblarrrlsedghkjldfgldkfghjdfl I think you get the picture...mdr!
As they say in Italy, where the opening ceremonies for the olympics are being held in Torino (can't wait for that either), buona notte! >_^

Very enjoyable weekend. No rehearsals so we went out to dinner for Mom's birthday at Ruby Tuesday's. Good stuff. No rehearsal on Saturday either so Mom and I went prom dress shopping at Apropos. I have three dresses that I want to decide on. We had to rush home to get ready for Mom's birthday party with Grandma and Aunt Chrissie. It was good, a littlestressful but that's resolved. Church and superbowl on Sunday so it was laid back. Also, had to do all my homework that day. :p Woo.
Aaaah. English class was so damn boring....................language sentence structure definitions blah. Math was ok I won logarithmic bingo twice so I got some twizllers and a cute neon yellow monster key chain I call "Goober". Unfortunately, I kind of stunk on the quiz...Shit and there's a test on Wednesday. Chem was fun..."It made my day" ha ha spelling out one's phone numbers is fun. Gym was gym. Orchestra was filled with sweat because we played the Mozart Requiem. Ew, sweaty. Same thing with rehearsal because Hughes made us run six laps, do ten pushups and thrityfive sit-ups so we wouldn't sing/act/dance out of breath. Argh! I couldn't breath for half the rehearsal. Eeee.
Poo. I have to do my APUSH and Spanish now. :-p
Ciao!

Oh the childhood memories..Sesame Street is good stuff. lol
Snuffleupagus You scored 43% Organization, 63% abstract, and 59% extroverted! |
This test measured 3 variables. First, this test measured how organized you are. Some muppets like Cookie Monster make big messes, while others like Bert are quite anal about things being clean.
Second, this test measured if you prefer a concrete or an abstract viewpoint. For the purposes of this test, concrete people are considered to gravitate more to mathematical and logical approaches, whereas abstract people are more the dreamers and artistic type.
Third, this test measured if you are more of an introvert or an extrovert. By definition, an introvert concentrates more on herself and an extrovert focuses more on others. In this test an introvert was somebody that either tends to spend more time alone or thinks more about herself.
You are somewhat organized, both concrete and abstract, and both introverted and extroverted.
I bet you didn't think you were Snuffleupagus. Let's find out why.
You are both somewhat organized. You have a good idea where you put things and you probably keep your place reasonably clean. You aren't totally obsessed with neatness though. Alloyius Snuffleupagus (and all Snuffleupagus') is not sloppy by nature, but he moves so incredibly slowly that it is impossible for him to be totally organized.
You both are about equally concrete and abstract thinkers. You have a good balance in your life. You know when to be logical at times, but you also aren't afraid to explore your dreams and desires... within limits of course. Snuffy generally has very basic interests, but he explores his abstract sensitive side when he plays his snuffleflute.
You both are somewhat introverted. Originally Snuffleupagus was very shy and was only Big Bird's invisible friend. However as he has aged he has started to build new friendships with new characters. Like Snuffy, you probably like to have some time to yourself. However, you do appreciate spending time with your friends, and you aren't scared of social situations.
The other possible characters are
Oscar the Grouch
Big Bird
Cookie Monster
Ernie
Elmo
Kermit the Frog
Grover
The Count
Guy Smiley
Bert
If you enjoyed this test, I would love the feedback! Also if you want to tell me your favorite Sesame Street character, I can total them up and post them here. Perhaps your choice will win!
|
|
My test tracked 3 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender: | You scored higher than 22% on Organization | | You scored higher than 81% on concrete-abstra | | You scored higher than 39% on intro-extrovert |
