Man, looking for colleges to apply to/audition at is exhausting and overwhelming. I know I'll find what I'm looking for; it's just that my parents and I are going crazy trying to find it. Perhaps everyone who is serious about finding the right school/program feels the same way.
I've found a couple more out-of-state schools to seriously check out. I really have to work harder than I ever had to get into some of the highkly competitive schools I'm applying to. Wish me luck!

Today, I went on the highway in Driver's Ed. and guess what? I'm still alive. The only tricky thing about it is merging and switching lanes. Once I got into downtown Schenectady, I had to deal with all these trucks pulling over to the side and loading/unloading. Aaah, going around in the other lane was tricky.
So here I am, extremely tired. G'night. (I know it is the afternoon but I really need some rest.)

My old neighbor died recently. Granted, she has been sick for while but her passing is shocking. As a family, we went to her wake and gave our condolencees to her family.
And then it hit me.
I looked around the little chapel of the funeral home and saw all of my old neighbors again. It was strange that such a sad event brought us all together again but what was evenstranger was how everyone looked older. Gray hair, slower movements, quiter gazes; I couldn't believe the changes in how little, almost five years, time has past.
I'm sure they felt the same about my brother and I. All those compliments about how much we've grown and how nice it is to know that we're doing well made me think about how time passes so quickly. "Oh I haven't seen oyu since you were ye high", etc.
The fact that things change so quickly and that time never stops frightens me. I wonder where all the time has gone. Some of childhood memories are beginning to slip away. When I was younger, I used to be able to instantly remember one summer afternoon in the kiddie pool with my brother and the neighborhood children. Now, I have to look at pictures in order to stimulate the memory, which is a little fuzzy. Life doesn't wait up for you, does it?
I sort of feel like an old lady talking about this yet I know I'm so youn and people keep telling me that I have so much of my life ahead. Still, however much of the life that I lead is not long enough. Our time on this planet is so limited. We're only reminded of this as we age or perhaps if we fall into illness, so we, as humans, take it for granted. So, the question is, how do we solve the problem? Do we "go with the flow" and relax? Or do we try to put our whole life in a giant time capsule, you know like the ones you made in kindergarten to look back at when you were in eighth grade? Perhaps, there is a way that we can freeze time and preserve and savor all the sweet moments and just banish the bad memories. Or would that be a selfish effort to play God and decdide our time for ourselves?
I'm not sure that if I can give any better advice than the cliche, "Live life to the fullest".

My whole life I have seen violence in the Holy Land but I've never seen such savagery and cruelty committed by the hands of man over this land.
I'm beginning to wonder if God Himself wants His land to be fought over? What kind of display of destruction and violence glorifies God? None of the three major religions; Judaisim, Christianity, and Islam; advocate acts of violence in the name of the Lord. Ultimately, extremism on all sides do. Why not compromise? Soemthing is definitely better than nothing. Why destroy something so important to you, something so "holy"and wage war against
all God's children and creatures?
If God himself cannot stop the violence, then what hope do we have?

Advice to people entering the real world from high school (I'm almost there. Seniors '07! One more year of high school then it's off to collegebut I think I've learned a few things, besides interpretting and analyzing deeper meanings in literature, the reasons why the Battle of Saratoga is a pivotal point in the journey to our nations's independence, or the stable octet rule. I learned something one cannot necessarily learn in a classroom/practice room/field.) I do realize I don't know everything but here's what I've found out so far.
1.) Never ever be combative even if you're being attacked. It won't get you anywhere except more drama and bs. Just go with the flow and if you really really have to, complain to yourself or some form of a journal. Oh but no online/ public bashing. That's even worse and just promotes a circle of useless violence and hurt feelings.
2.) Bragging about hazing some poor chap in a frat or about your "ass kicking" dodgeball skills in eighth grade gym, only because you pinned all the helpless "nerds" who no own half the world's computer companies, will NOT get you a good job or for that matter, help you get into college. Sit down, shut up, and just do your best on your school work/work in general. Not everyone is a freakin' Einstein or Neitzch. All that people really ask is that you at least try to conquer disceting the Constitution or solving trig. equations. It's not that hard.
3.) Don't beat up the nerds or people different from you because they're smarter, more musical/artistically inclined, play some other sport besides football or basesball, or are different in general. T3h n3rd5 pwn j00. Why? These "social losers" will most likely be your boss. I wouldn't be surprised if Bill Gates highers assassins to go out and seek his retribution on his tormentors from his school days. (however farfetched, cruel, or frightening that may be.) Finally, just because people are different doesn't mean that they're terrible people. Oh noes! Someone is not conforming and wearing American Eagle and listening to Lil John attempt to pronounce the word '"fingers" is so terrible, isn't it? Find your own niche, be proud of who you are, take every oppertunity to try new things and grow as a person, and in general just stay cool in your own way.
4.) You are never better than your elders. Unless you live in the backwaters, the answer is no. Adults have a lot more experience than you do and they're there to help you out, employ you or advice you when choosing a grad school. Your Grandpa didn't see almost all of his friends die in wars, who were no more older than you are now, to hear you talk like some jive-ass punk. Have some respect once in a while. You might learn something.
5.) Finally, that he said/ she said thing? Bullshit. No one is going to care who Cindy-Sally-Billy-Jo-erson said to the Bobby-Mikey-Steve-ington or if she slept with him. In twenty-five years, it won't matter anymore. Iff you mention it at your twentififth high school reunion, people will laugh at your sorry behind. HA! HA! He/She is sore about something so trivial that happened over 25 years ago. :-p
*phew*...There. I hope that advice helped/made sense.

No, 'tis not a quest for the Holy Grail but it's a holy one, yes. I'm just doing some soul searching. I've been trying to for a few months now.
Anywho, towards the end of our date yesterday, Kevin and I started talking about God and such because he told me he was going to a conference in PA with his church youth group. Then, I opened up to him about the spiritual problem I've been having since I started confirmation classes. I asked, "what if it's all wrong?" and "how do I know what to believe?" and then I started to cry, and I mean cry; something I never really do. He's never seen me cry. I didn't want him to but he just held me and told me to cheer up and that "It's ok."So, he invited me to attend some services at his church. He's episcopalean and I'm raised Catholic so the transition shouldn't be too drastic; they're both very similar sects of Christianity. It'll be interesting and I appreciate the fact that he's being so supportive of me.
So I'm doing a little spiritual exploreation to further develop my faith and here's some advice that my friend, D-train, gave me:
"Heres my views: 'The Walrus and the Carpenter' poem: what's the metaphorical meaning? it colorfully details the sham that is organized religion. The Walrus - with his girth and good-nature - obviously refers to either the Buddha, or - with his tusks - the lovable Hindu elephant god, Lord Ganesha. This takes care of the Eastern religions. The Carpenter is an obvious reference to Jesus Christ, who was purportedly raised the son of a carpenter. He represents the Western religions. And in the poem. what do they do? They dupe all the oysters into followmg them. Then. when the oysters collective guard is down. the Walrus and the Carpenter shuck and devour the helpless creatures, en masse. I don't know what that says to you, but to me it says that following faiths based on these mythological figures insures the destruction of one's inner-being. Organized religion destroys who we are or who we can be by inhibiting our actions and decisions out of fear of an intangible parent-figure who shakes a finger at us from thousands of years ago and says "No, no!"
'Through the Looking Glass' - a children's tale? I think not."
Ah yes, Lewis Carol. Of course. It certainly does make sense but I don't feel so harshly about organized religion.
I'm still Catholic and I have strong morals but I need to find a way to sort of "personalize" the meaning of God and try to live by that philosophy.
So far, I starting to dig a little deeper into my spirituality, especially after church yesterday.

HELP!
I created a xanga about a week ago for fun. No problem, right? Well, someone created a simliar name and used the same profile pic as me; it's the one you're looking at right now. This person is also saying terrible, nasty things about me and humiliating me all over the internet!
Here's the real me:
www.xanga.com/starlit_starlight
And here's the imposter:
www.xanga.com/starlitt_starlight
Notice the imposteruses two "t's" in "starlit". Nice spelling, whoever-you-are.
I've never been so humiliated in my life! I can't believe someone would do this.
If anyone can help me or has an idea who it is, please, please let me know. I've already blocked this person from loooking and commenting on my site and I reported them to the xanga administrators.
Thank you.

h yes, that would be me. Why, you ask? Because today is the day that Driver's Ed. starts. Joy. And did I mention I have to go EARLY? What the hell? This class is going to be
so boring. I want to be a good driver but I really don't want to get up at the crack of dawn to fucking drive once a week and fall asleep while learning about enginges; information that I'll probably never, or even barely, use.
Oh and now the blender won't work so I can't have my smoothie. Goodie goodie.
As you can see, I'm in the brightest of moods.

This weekend consisted of driving (quite well actually), great dinners courtesy of Mom, cool movies, a celebration of my parents' anniversary, and Tim Vo's senior recital (he's an amazing violinist).
I suspect more driving is in store before my Driver's Ed. class on Wednesday. Huzzah, I'm getting better everyday. It's going better than I expected. :-)
Guess who is going to the midnight showing of Pirates of the Carribbean: Dead Man's Chest?

I've got to stop dreaming about car accidents before I get too scared to really learn how to drive. Oy vey. At least, I understand the responsibility and caution that one should have when on the road. Or at least I am beginning to.
So I found a fantastic book my Dad had in college about the life of MArie Antoinette."A Dainty Morsel" indeed.
